I have a Envy 4500, 13 months old.
I confirm i have this carriage jam bug, but it is a software problem.
Its not possible for me to print one specific page.
I try to print page 1, it prints.
I try to print page 2, it says carriage jam.
over and over again....
They are different pages of course but both have same margins, same colors, same document.
I just red somewhere else someone that has the same problem.
I am able to reproduce this bug both with a pdf and an excel sheet, 2 different files with 2 different softwares.
All support pages or representatives point you to mechanical checkups.
Unfortunately, this printer is both mechanicaly cheap and also has a software bug.

This BS just started with my Envy 4500. I printed some documents JUST YESTERDAY and now this. What I did that led to this error was loading some photo paper to print some passport photos and I started getting this error. None of the photo paper actually got fed into the printer and there is NO obstructions. When I dismiss the error, the god damned carriage starts to move left and right from end to end just fine. Then I get the "Carriage Jam" error again. **bleep**.

I'm unable to print AT ALL with this carriage jam error. If it is a firmware bug, it won't let me update the firmware while it's in an error state and I have no idea how to revert the firmware to the orginal version. This is soooo frustrating!

Miss TeriLynn,
The solution you posted does not work at all. There is NO obstruction in the carriage or anywhere else in the printer. This carriage jam error is happening for NO REASON. Now, please tell me how to fix THAT.
The carriage moves just fine on its own...even right after clearing the error. Once the carriage stops moving, the error shows up again. Is it possible to get an RMA? This is so frustrating. I had an important print job to do and it would be really expensive to have it done professionally. I don't have time for this nonsense.
