I started experiencing problems with the printed about 3 months ago, but was not able to address it because I was in the process of moving. The issue started before the printer was moved.

The error message on the printer says: "The print cartridge cannot move. Open the ink cartridge access door, clear any paper jam or obstruction, ensure ink cartridge levers are lowered and snapped onto place."

I followed these instructions. There is no paper jam, the in cartridges are in place with the levers lowered. I took the ink cartridges out and replaced them just to be sure. I don't see anything that looks like a physical obstruction in any part of the printer.

When I dismiss the initial error message, then this error message appears on the printer: "Cartridges appear to be missing. If cartridges are installed, check that plastic tape covering ink nozzles has been removed."

I removed the plastic tape when I installed the ink cartridges the first time and it was working fine.

Any thoughts on what I should try next?

@Aaron12312,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you get an error message "The print cartridge cannot move. Open the ink cartridge access door, clear any paper jam or obstruction, ensure ink cartridge levers are lowered and snapped into place."

This issue could occur carriage is jammed or if there is an obstruction in the carriage path.

Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.
