Hi Team,

I have recently purchased Hp Envy 4500 all in one(Printer, Scanner Copy Photo) and I am trying to scan the documents in PDF format, and I am always getting the error and allowing me to do the scan in Png format only.

Can you please suggest me how to fix this issue.

Thanks and Regards,

Hari

Hello Melb_Hari

I see that question is posted quite a bit on the internet so you are not the only one asking. I did not see a direct solution but did find some work arounds.

I have an old HP PSC 2210 on Windows 8 that will not scan to PDF either.

My work around is to scan to jpeg and convert to pdf after using Cute PDF Writer (free version).

After the document is scanned:

  • Right click the file and choose print.
  • In the windows dropdown menu to choose which printer, click on Cute PDF Writer.
  • Now click the Print button at the bottom.
  • A moment later, a dialog box opens asking where to save the PDF file. Save to the folder of your choice.

Thats it.

Cute PDF Writer does not have a user interface to work from, it only gives the option to print to the PDF creator after its installed. http://www.cutepdf.com/

The "other option" I read about was to install a third party OCR application to scan with that gives the PDF option. But it is a paid program. http://www.scanitto.com/ I have not used Scanitto though and do not know anything about it directly.

These are the only alternatives I know about at this point. I dont know which printer models scan directly to PDF but apparently the ENVY 4500 does not.

Hope it helps. :generic:

Hello Hari Chennupalli,

I found this on the forum, I think it may solve your issue: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/scan-multiple-pages-to-single-PDF-file-usin...

Otherwise you can try Udocx, which is a cloud based OCR solution. It automatically saves scans as PDF.

Cheers,

Iris

This one has caused me no end of stress, not sure why no one has posted the most obvious and easiest fix for this. Simply Download HP Scan & capture for your appropriate OS. The software allows multi page scanning to a single PDF. Breathing again!!
