Hi @fr3,

I read your post and see that you are unable to copy. There are issues with the scan bar. I would be happy to help you.

It sounds like a hardware issue with the printer. I will send you another step to try in a private message.

Hi @fr3,

The Private Message I sent you provides the information on how to get to the Support Menu. It is a sequence of touching the display on the printer. Please try the steps again.

Thank You.

Same Problem Envy 4500 will copy from computer, but will not scan, or copy using printer control buttons... I have tried updating firmware and it stops and says it cannot complete because it cannot communicate with printer... Message on printer says " Scanner Problem - Scanner Component is Broken and cannot Copy or Scan." - Will try hard reboot, but almost sure that will not fix the issue... seems like a common problem with this HP All In One Model ?
I am using Windows 7 OS

Thanks!

Any chance you could private message me the same instructions?  I've tried hard resetting and all the other things on my HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-one but with no success.  As the previous poster has said, I can print from my mac no problem but can't scan from my mac or even use the copy function on the printer.  When I try to copy, the scanner moves from left to right, the bulb lights up for a few seconds and then the printer stops.  Any help would be appreciated.

Seems to be an common issue with the Envy 4500. I also can not copy or scan directly  from the envy or scan from the computer. If I try to copy from the printer the scan bar lights up moves a little (does not seem to travel the whole page and goes out. the pinter pulls in a sheet of paper and stops wheile the diplay just says "Scanning". Pretty much the same thin happens if I try scanning from the computer (Windows 10 on Toshiba Satellite S-70 B). Ive tried the hard reset. I've reinstalled drivers. I can find no firmware update. HP Print and Scan Doctor  makes it as far as checking the driver and just sits there saying "Scanning" and sits there doing nothing.....

What next?

OK, Been a week and not a peep. Does anyone have a solution to non-functioning scanner on HP Envy 4500?

I have almost the same issue with my HP Envy 4500 all in one.

The printer scans and prints just fine if I use my computer to accomplish it.

The only thing wrong with the printer is that if I select scan/copy directly

from the print, not using my computer at all it scans normally, sounds normal

but after it scans the printer prints a blank white paper.

The sounds that the printer and scanner make are normal, just like it did before

when the scan/print feature worked perfectly.

The ink carts are almost full and it does print and scan perfectly when I

use the HP software in my computer.

It used to scan/copy perfectly  just like when it was new up to this evening

that's when the scan/copy would no longer work properly.

In other words I can scan and print perfectly if I use my computer to do it.

The only thing I cannot do is to scan and print a document without using

my compute. . (scan/copy/print from the printer is not working)

I followed all the instructions you gave, even updated the firmware and

ran the scan doctor, installed the HP drivers and it did not help at all.

Scan doctor did not show any errors.

Please let me know how to fix it.

Similar problem here.  I can print from my computer (MacBook Pro) but can't copy or scan.  When I try, I get "copying" message, paper goes in part way, then nothing happens. Message continues to flash.  Can't stop it by hitting cancecl.

With lid open, scanner light flashes, then goes off.  Scan bar does not move.  Again message continues to flash.  I still can't turn the message off by hitting cancel.

Now can no longer shut down printer be pressing the on/off button, have to do hard shutdown by pulling power cord,.

I've installed easy start, still have same issues.  Tried to update firmware by following instructions but it says there is no firmware available.

Extremely frustrated!

IS there any help out there?

Thanks!
