HP Envy 4520 All-in-One printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have an HP Envy 4520 series that prints most printouts in blach and white. The only exception are printing test pages which show some colour. When looking into printout properties, there are no options to print in either colour or grey-scale, so I suspect that is why all non-test printouts come out in grey.

Can anyone suggest a proper fix for this, so that I can print in colour again? It is not a driver or OS problem - the same problem affects 3 different computers in my house, and the issue remains the same whether I install the Windows Printer Driver, the HP basic printer driver, or the HP full printer driver. I have also tried multiple times completely uninstalling and reinstalling various drivers, also without success.

This is an extremely annoying problem that seems to affect a lot of people using this printer model, based on various forums. Please advise.

Regards,

Phil.

Please follow the utility from my link, not from the HP Website.

There are two different versions of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility for different purposes, this specific version should help better to resolve such a problem.

Hi,

Try following below version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Be sure to restart your PC and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.

Please let me know the results,

Shlomi

Hello,

I have downloaded the utility straight from the HP website to ensure I am using the latest version, restarted the computer and ran it. It keeps stating that it is installing recommended updates, but that otherwise there are no problems. However, the test page printed from the utility is in grayscale, not in colour as it should be. There seems to be no capability in this utility to solve that problem

Furthermore and as discussed, there seems to be no option in the printing advanced properties to ensure that printouts are in colour. Nor are there any in the standard printer properties.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello,

Thanks, the utility at the specified link seems to have resolved the problem. Any chance of having the main HP Print and Scan Doctor have that functionality as well?

Regards,

Phil.
