Thank you for advising how to change the settings so that the scanner works correctly.  I have a brand new HP ENvy 5530 and it would not scan a document with a logo on it. It would only scan and a line would come out even though it showed in the preview screen that all was there.  You have saved me so much distress - I have been trying this for two days now and was ready to through the @#&^#$%@ out the door!!!  Once again Thannks! 😉

Thank you so much for your clear and easy instructions!!  Saved me tons of time and unneeded frustration.  Why can't hp tech support offer such knowlege?  Turning your printer off and on again and downloading a doctor program is ridiculous if they are supposed to be experts on hp products.  So, again, I say thank you!!!

Thank you so much.  I have been trying to figure this out forever.  You made it so simple.

Thanks. I have envy 4500. Same problem with scanning. Went to advanced scanning settings, took auto crop off and all is okay now.

Thank you lots, it worked for me.

I have the same problem. Only parts of the document will scan. Any ideas?

Hi,

Thanks for using the forum.

This video should explain how to scan without seeing the problem.  (the Deskjet 2540 is using the same software as your printer)
