Hi mcchadmc,

Were you able to get your replacement and if so is it working without a noise?

Same problem here about an irritating high frequency noise (like fax-modem) on HP Envy 7640.
I called this morning to the HP helpdesk and they will replace the product on 04/02/2015.
To be continued ...

Regards,
Dirk.

Hi Dirk,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing the same issue. HP can also send you a new power supply instead of a brand new unit. Please let me know if you would prefer to do that. SOrry for the inconvenience.

A new power supply could sure be as nice as a brand new printer.

I believe this is a very, very good printer but ...
The only thing I want is to get rid off that irritating noise, so whatever the solution is.

I could send you a recorded sound-file of the noise if you want ...

Called this morning to the Belgium HP printer support +3226200566 and they arranged to send me a new printer on Wednessday 04/02/2015.
Hope that your question (and my reply on this issue) don't cross eachother.
Please let me know.

Regards,
Dirk.

Today I received a brand new printer, but exactly the same problem.
I think the engineers of HP know the noise problem, but the issue is unfortunately not solved at this moment.
Can a new and 'updated' power-supply resolve this ?

Has the printer 5740 the same power-supply and irritating noise ?
If not then I would like to exchange the 7640 printer with this model.

A third replacement printer is not an option for me ...

Grtz,
Dirk.

Dear Dirk,

I had the same problem with the replacement. I've received my new power supply module, the noise is almost gone (it is just hearable when you stand directly at the printer and put your ear on it). The solution is not perfect, but acceptable.

I guess there is a whole serie of broken power modules. Called HP and they will send you the replacement (waited 10 days, came from France).

Hi Jessica,

I was supposed to get the power suply a week or so ago but HP keeps postponing the date.

They postponed the delivery 4 times. The power supply "will be shipped before the 19th" now. Yesterday it was the 15th lol

I'm not too worried about it as long as it eventually comes. In the mean time, I'm keeping it on at 100% brightness for 2.5 hours with the engineering settings to keep it from driving me crazy.

This is the noise for anybody who hasn't heard it.

At long last got my refund, what a hassle that was.

When is HP going to admit that model has a fault, and solve the problem. The ridiculous amount of time I have spent on the phone and having 3 of the same printer sent out to me, just for them to repeat "there is no known fault to us with this model"

The complaints are not just on here, they are on amazon UK and US.

As a fan of HP, now former fan, I have also been loyal to the brand, but the way I have been treated is disgusting. What a way to treat loyal customers.

7640noise, instead of buying it three times, you should have read this board.

HP has been nothing but friendly and helpful with me...
