HP Envy 7640
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy 7640 printer prints but not scan because when using the scan to computer function on the printer I received the message that the scanning software needed to be installed and configured on my computer. The printer scan function could not connect to my computer either by wireless or even wired connection to my router. Even after uninstalling the printer driver and reinstalling, the same problem happens. I looked up solutions online for this problem and they appeared to be very complicated. However, I found that I could scan using the HP Smart software. After opening up HP Smart, one can go to scan and operate the scanning through that software rather than touching the scan function on the printer. A simple solution - I hope this helps someone else.
