HP Envy 4500e
Linux

I am getting the following message on the printer screen:

"The printer cannot connect to the server. Please check your internet connection or proxy settings"

Some additional info:

The printer is on a fixed IP and is connected via wireless

I can manage the printer from the printers web interface

On the HP web account for the printer it says Status: Connected.

My internet connection is OK

I can print from all my devices (Including HP print on my android phone); but after the printer window says 'Printing' for about a minute ; I get a warning under the heading 'Instant Ink' - "Press OK to connect printer and update status"; when I press OK the document prints perfectly, but the printer hangs on 'Connecting' untill it goes back to the original error message.

I'm not sure that the issue is actually at my end?

Yes. They confirmed to me via Twitter that they were undertaking maintenance on their server. Is working again now for me. They suggested powering the printer off for at least one minute to ensure it reconnected, but I didn't need to do this. Shame - as they should have our Instant Ink contact details - they couldn't have emailed us ahead of time.

I'm getting exactly the same problem in exactly the same scenarios.  I've been using my printer - an 5530 in my case - with no problems up to now - so I suspect, as you do, that something is happening HP's end on 27th April 2015.

Also have the same problem with my HP Envy 4507

I have the same issue since since night of 25th, on two 7640's on two different networks. Called support, They say it's maintenance on the server on their end. If you press your eprint button, and it comes back with the printers email address and says connected, then the device is on the internet, and it's their issue. I too, can't connect to the printer from the instant Ink page. They basically told me to wait it out, and try later.. Makes for slow printing though!

You're right! Mine just started working again after a PO/PO. Wasn't working two hours ago though. Thanks...
