Trying to scan and this Error Scan 5 message comes on and I can't do anything else. Help

I have Replaced the scanner stepper motor, unpluged, and repluged 4 times. It tryes to initialize,but just go's all the way to thr right then shows the scanner 5 error message. what do i do????

Sorry that you two are having a problem with this scanner 5 error message. It seems that the scanner motor may have gone out or damaged. 

 

You may need replace the pancake motor in the scanner.  If you check the motor, the shaft will either be loose(moves up and down in the motor, or is bound up).  HP P/N Q3948-60186

 

Perform a hard reset on the printer. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer. Leave it out for a minute and plug it back in.
