Hello,

I've got a reasonably new (maybe a month old) M601DN exhibiting some strange behaviors. This is the second time I've had issues with it.

Issue one: Day of install, unit would only print blank pages. It would only print these for a minute or two, then the unit would seize and give me an error 49.2F.FF, an error I could find nothing about online. I took the printer back to my office, where it would print perfectly, and then back to where I had deployed it where it gave me the same error. Tried a number of different things, and what seemed to fix it was swapping out the 20+ year old surge suppressor (I know, I know...) for a new one. Once I did that, the printer would power on without the error and print normally.

Okay, great! So the printer is working and everything is awesome.

Until today.

Issue two: Today I get an email saying the printer is only printing blank pages, regardless of what's sent to it or who sends it. People send jobs, blank paper comes out. Instead of "Ready", the screen reads "Processing job from tray 3..." even when there isn't a job going through it.

I don't know if these incidents are related, but I have a suspicion they are. Anyone else have problems like this, or know of a solution for this?

Update: I am receiving the 49.2F.FF error again. Printer boots, spits out a couple of blank pages, gives me the error and is completely seized with that error on-screen until I shut it down by holding the power button until it dies.

Hello,

Some things to try:

  1. Reseat the formatter
  2. Reseat the FFC from the ICB to DCC
  3. Perform a "Partial Disk Clean"
  • Upon power up, when all 3-LEDs light, press the "X" (stop) button
  • Scroll to "Administrator"
  • Select "Partial Clean"

4.  Upgrade FW

Hope this helps, if find out any other solution to try, I will let you know.  I added one step in red text above.

Regards,

DaveK

I found some other information. I would recommend calling for service since the item is still under warranty if only 1 month old.

49.2F.FF
Description

Generic Unhandled exception error.

Recommended action

Check that the FFC cable is not damaged and is properly seated between the DC Controller and the Inner connecting PCA.

If reseating the cable resolves the issue the DO NOT replace any parts.

Reseat DCC, check all connectors. If it brings not to a solution, replace DCC.

If the FFC cable is damaged then replace the cable, RK2-4077-000CN.

If after replacing the reseating or replacing the cable the issue is still not resolve then replace the Inner connecting PCA, RM1-8294-00CN.
