Hi, everyone!

On the HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 m602, has anyone encountered pauses in print jobs when switching trays?  Example, we're printing invoices and we have a rule setup that prints everything out of Tray 2 except for the last page which is perforated paper from Tray 3.  So, in a 5-page job, pages 1-4 are plain paper from Tray 2...then page 5 is perforated from Tray 3.  There is a 2 to 3 second delay when the last page is pulled from Tray 3.  If the invoice is only 2 pages, the print job appears super slow.

This printer was working great with no delays until we applied firmware 2302786_433718.  Now, the delay is very noticeable.  We're not sure if this was intentional or not in the new firmware.

We're using the latest PCL 5 Universal Print Driver.  The only thing that changed was the firmware.  We even tried a full firmware reset.  Problem is still there.

I've been working with HP support, but we've been told to wait until the next firmware release...which may or may not fix anything.

Any help or insight is appreciated.

We have been experiencing this same issue with our HP Laserjet 600 M602 printers.

Was able to resolve by setting the Print Mode for all papertypes used to the same setting.  Orginally we thought it may be a tray setting issue or firmware problem but in reality was the paper type settings. We setup printer for plain paper in tray 2 and bond in tray 3, by default plain was set to Light print mode and Bond to Bond print mode. Every time printer switched trays it pauses to configure the different paper type settings.

Hope this helps others resolve their printing issues

Hi ,

try to perform 'PARTIAL CLEAN', then upgrade the firmware again, it will reset the entire printer setting and it will be like the first time that you used this printer.

The version that you're using is a good one for the moment, no issues like that has happened but think to reinject the firmware after performing Partial Clean on printer and it will work perfectly .

  1. Turn the product on.

  2. Press the Stop  button when the Ready , Data , and Attention LEDs are illuminated solid.

  3. Use the Down arrow  button to navigate the Preboot menu options.

  4. Press the OK button to select a menu item.

Under Administraor , you'll find partial clean .

    Just do it :smileywink:

Thanks for the details of problem Brian, It appears that tray switching logic is not working upto your expectation. We would analyze this in lab and would try to improve on this in coming release.

Thanks for the valuable feedback and for putting all the details here which would help us to reproduce this better.

Thank you for your reply!

I tried performing a Partial Clean / Re-install the firmware.  Same behavior.

I'm thinking that this is a firmware issue.  Sounds like HP is going to check it out in the lab and hopefully fix it in the next release.

Stay tuned!!!    : )

~ Update ~

Just installed firmware 2302908_435019.  No change in behavior.  Still slow switching between trays.

Any help from HP is greatly appreciated.

MooreGolfin, you ROCK!!!

I checked our print mode settings and found Plain set to Light Mode and PrePunched set to Normal Mode.  After changing them both to Normal Mode...VICTORY!!!  There is now no noticeable pause when switching trays.

I so appreciate you responding to this and helping us out.

Hello,

I got the same problem on the same printer.

We upgraded the firmware because our customer was experiencing PS print errors, and now he still have errors and the printer print slower than before and have toner fixation problems on stick on labels.

We solved the fixation problem by using thick paper mode instead of stick on labels but we can't specify same type of paper on each tray or we'll have fixation problem back.

So i can't fix it with your solution.

Any suggestion ?
