HP Recommended

I talked to some laserjet people. Unfortunately, there is nothing official I can do to help if installing the update doesn't work. They recommend a new formatter board, which I can't guarantee will fix the problem.

You can search for this specific part here

http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/partsdirectory/catalog_solutions_NA.htm and then selecting on "parts surfer" which should then lead you here

http://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

(I'd serch for the part for you, but the search is done by product number or serial number, which I don't have for your printer.)

Again, I don't know how much it will cost and if it will fix your printer, so bear in mind it could be better to buy a whole new printer than to buy a $150 dollar board (I don't know how much it costs, I'm just estimating).

You can also try calling the HP hotline to get directed to a repair team, although I don't know what the warranty is on this product. Maybe if it's a common problem they'll fix it for free or will have extended the warranty? Make sure to say it failed trying to install an update.
