Hello,
My HP LaserJet M1536dnf MFP makes grinding noise when I try to print, and also when I boot up the printer. I've seen that others have reported the same issue, but I'm not sure what to do to resolve it.
I've verified that there is no paper jam. After the grinding noise stops, the printer indicates that I should add paper. However, there is paper in the printer. That leads me to question the paper feeder mechanism.
I also tried placing paper in the manual feeder without luck.
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!

Welcome to the HP Forums spoonsphere,
I see by your post that the printer is making grinding noises. I can help you with this.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Remove the toner and restart the printer to see if the printer still makes a grinding noise.
It may be the toner causing this noise.
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
1. Verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
2. Check the memory chip for damage.
3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, tuck blade sticking out or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
They reinsert the toner inside the printer again.
I have provided a document to go through the steps to see if that will resolve the issue.
'Doc. feeder jam', 'Open door and clear jam', or Other Jam Message Displays on the Printer.
Let me know if the printer still made the grinding noise after removing the toner.
Did you find any paper jams?
Have a nice day!
Thank You.
