Printing is having issues printing on envelopes from tray 1, however it prints fine from tray 2 and will print on 8.5*11 perfectly fine.

What are those issues? For example:

  • Nothing prints.
  • Printer jams.
  • Data is printed, but not in the expected position.
  • etc.

When putting an envelope in TRAY1, the printer will feed fine, and envelope will come out fine (No jams). But the ink/label won't appear on the envelope.

So the implication is that the data is perhaps being printed 'off paper' as if a larger paper size was being assumed.

Are you able to 'capture' a sample 'sanitised' (i.e. redacted) data envelope print job to a (nominated) .prn file for analysis?

With Windows printer drivers, this is usually available via the 'print to file' option in the Print dialogue.

If so, analysis of the 'commands' which would otherwise have been sent to the device may yield clues as to what is happening.

Assuming that you are using a PCL5 or PCL6 (PCL XL) printer driver, you can analysis the captured file yourself using the PRN File Analyse tool in the PCL Paraphernalia application, available via http://www.pclparaphernalia.eu

... or send the file to me via the support mailbox associated with that site (see Contacts page).

Also, indicate just how you are loading the envelope(s) in tray 1; in particular, which edge is the 'leading' edge, and is the 'front' face of the envelope loaded face-down or face-up?

What is the envelope designation (it should be one of #10, Monarch, B5, C5, DL), and what are the exact dimensions?
