LaserJet Pro 400 color M451nw
Linux

So i switched over to linux (ubuntu 12.04) [I know, "boo.."] and I'm assuming its some settings that got messed up but my LaserJet Pro 400 color M451nw is displaying an error when I try to print (wirelessly). The error says Manual feed, PLAIN LETTER. Then it says press [ok] to continue. After pressing ok it will print a black and white document roughly like what I sent to the printer, but not quite "refridgerator door material".  This happened even with a test print as well. It sounded like I had a pretty big problem at first but then I successfully printed from a Macbook running OSX without any trouble. Minimal research led me to believe the tray selection was wrong and after attempting most of the options I came here. Any suggestions? 😄

If you look at the settings in the embedded webserver you'll probably see that the tray 2 paper type is set incorrectly. Most people would have tried to set to plain letter.

If tray 2 is set correctly, and the printer is still asking for paper in tray 1 then your program is probably specifying that tray when you try to print.
