HP LaserJet P2035
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

On the sales floor we use 3 different LaserJet printers to print on pre-formated forms. All three printers print differently on the forms as thought the line spacing is set differently. The spec sheets for all three printers show they are set the same but they don't print the same.  Any thoughts?

To check whether the issue is with the (individual) printers, or with the (individual?) workstation(s) and their installed printer drivers:

  • Print a test job to one of the printers, but select the 'print to file' option in the Print dialogue; this should cause the print job to be 'captured' to a nominated .prn file.

  • 'Send' the content of this file to each of the printers in turn, and compare the results.

  • If the printers are network connected, the easiest way to do this is to use the 'lpr' command within a Windows 'command-prompt' session:
lpr -S ip-address -P any myfile.prn

where ip-address is the ip-address of the target printer, and myfile.prn is the pathname of the capture file.

It may be necessary to enable certain Windows features in order to make the 'lpr' command available.

I haven't had a chance to run the test as suggested. It did however, give me some immediate insight.

I tried printing a word document to all three printers and they were perfect. The thought that you spawned with your suggestion was the print files I'm having an issue with is being passed through a telnet server that may  have different or corrupted print drivers. My plan is to delete and re-install these drivers and try again. I do have a good feeling about it and will report on it when finished. Thank you.
