HPM402 DN
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Client has had problems with slow printing since purchasing this printer.  I have updated the firmware, updated her adobe acrobat reader, and verified the drivers.

If I change the driver to the PCL6 universal driver - everything will print fine, but she cannot print duplex.

When I select the M402 DN PCL6 driver - she can print duplex, but Adobe pauses for 3-5 seconds before spooling the print job.

Adobe recommends using the PS driver instead of PCL6, but this printer doesn't seem to have a PS driver.  Other people were able to get by with a PCL5 driver instead of upgrading to PCL6, this printer does not seem to offer a PCL5 driver either.

Any other suggestions or ideas?  It is obviously an issue with the Driver communicating to Adobe since I can resolve the problem using a universal driver.  But the client really needs the duplex printer, too.  Is there a universal Duplex driver?

Hi,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled for the HP Universal Print Driver:

Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer Hp Universal Printing PCL6 icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

Shlomi

That answer did not even address the question or problem I posed....

I know how to turn on Duplexing, the problem is the driver's slow communication with Adobe acrobat.

Is there a Universal Duplex driver?  Or a way to fix the slow print jobs?

Please read my post before responding to a keyword.

You are welcome by the way.... 🙂

If I change the driver to the PCL6 universal driver - everything will print fine, but she cannot print duplex.

Mu steps above refer to enabling duplex printing for the PCL 6 Universal Print Driver, not for the M402 driver...

i would say this meet your quation to get duplex printing with the universal driver which do not print slow or as you name it Universal Duplex Driver..

Please read my answer before complaining, and anyway it do not cost much to appreciate any other's intention to help you...
