HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer

I have had this printer for a few years and no issues. Have replaced the ink cartridges without any issues. Cyan/Blue started streak printing and then won't print at all. Have cleaned the printhead multiple times. Have removed the cyan and replaced it. Have remove the small tabs from the orange pull off. Have tried hot water drops on cartridge and in print head and the printhead print out will have the smallest streak of blue but then when its cleaned again nothing.

I am having the same issue. I've even tried what another rep suggested with making sure all the orange plastic is off from where i removed the cap and I tried their recommendation of dropping some hot water in the place where the cartridge sits and still the cyan wont work.

After a phone call with the company I have been told that the printer just simply isn't working and I have to buy a new printer. Let me know if anything ends up working for you.

@DoodlesBelle @Marianne05

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to your printer?
  • Are you able to print from other devices?

If you have already performed the steps from the document- Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure. I'm sending out a private message to assist you with the next course of action. Please check your Private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile Next, to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
