I just got this printer two days ago. I got it set up no problem. Was able to print pictures wirelessly from both my phone and my hubby's. Now I'm trying to print something from my computer, and it WILL NOT DO ANYTHING at all, whether I try wirelessly or through the USB. I ran the HP print and scan doctor, which updated the software. Then I restarted my computer, and still nothing. If I click on the printer icon in my computer's toolbar, it says "printing", but my printer doesn't respond in any way whatsoever. Please help!! I need this printer for my home based business!!

Hi NGroves,
I'm sorry you're having issues with your new printer.
I see you restarted your computer, but did you also restart your printer?
I suggest setting a static IP address if there continue to be wireless connection issues between your printer and the computer. (If you want to go this route, let me know.)
As for the USB issue, make sure the wireless radio is turned off on the printer before you connect the printer with a USB cable.
Hope that helps!

Hi Howard301099,
Here are the steps to set a static IP address:
- Find the printer IP address on the Network Configuration Page you printed in the previous solution.
- How to print a Network Configuration Page
- On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon (
), and then touch the Settings icon (
).
- Touch Print Reports, and then touch Network Configuration Page.
NOTE:
The printer might print three pages of information.
- Open a new web browser window or tab.
- Type the IP address in your web browser's address bar, and then press Enter. The Embedded Web Server (EWS) for the printer opens and confirms that the printer is on the same network as the computer.
NOTE:
Make sure that you type the IP address into the browser's address box. If you type it into a tool bar search box, the EWS will not open.- I got a security certificate error. What do I do?If the message 'There is a problem with this website's security certificate' appears in the web browser when you try to open the embedded web server (EWS), or when you navigate within the EWS, click '
Continue to this website (not recommended)'.
NOTE:
Choosing 'Continue to this website (not recommended)' will not harm your computer while you navigate within the EWS for your printer. If you encounter this error outside of your printer's EWS, your computer could be at risk.
If the browser fails to open the EWS after you click 'Continue to this website (not recommended)', refresh the browser window.
- In the EWS, click the Network tab. Depending on your network setup, click Wireless (802.11), IPv4 Configuration, or IPv6 Configuration.
- Click Manual IP, and then click Suggest a Manual IP Address. A manual IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway displays.
- Print another test page to make sure that the printer's IP address is the same as you assigned.
- How to print a Network Configuration Page
- On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon (
), and then touch the Settings icon (
).
- Touch Print Reports, and then touch Network Configuration Page.
NOTE:
The printer might print three pages of information.
- Update the IP address in the printer software.Select your operating system, and then follow the steps to update the IP address in the printer software.
- Windows XP
- Click Start (
), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your HP printer, and then click Update IP address.
- Type the new IP address, and then click Save.
- Windows Vista and Windows 7
- Click the Windows icon (
), click All Programs, click HP, click the folder for your HP printer, and then click Update IP address.
- Type the new IP address, and then click Save.
- Windows 8If you are not using the latest version of Windows 8, the information in these steps might not match. You can get the latest version from the Microsoft Store.
- Right-click the Start button (
) in the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, and then type HP.
- Click your printer (
).
- Click Utilities, and then click Update IP Address.
- Type the new IP address, and then click Save.
- Mac OS XThe new IP address automatically populates in the Mac operating system.

ok, we just installed a new HP Officejet 8615 and it worked perfectly for a few weeks and then all of the sudden our computers stated that the printer was offline and we couldn't connect to it.
here is what I have tried:
1. tried resetting all network settings; unplugged from wall, turned off, turned back on and the printer connects to the wireless network no problem. My windows 8 computer connects to the network no problem. Still couldn't get to it from my WIndows 8 PC -- it states the printer is offline.
2. tried setting a static IP on printer. Restarted computer and still couldn't get to it.
The printer says that it is connected to the network with an excellent connection.
My computer gets to the network with no problem.
My computer CANNOT get to the printer -- it still states that the printer is offline.
I am at a loss on how to fix this. other than returning your printer and getting a different model.

I am having the EXACT same problem as you... After having this for only a month, it's now giving me the same errors you receive.
I'm at least able to scan once, and then I get a scanner error that the Printer is either turned off or not connected. Like you, the printer tells me it's connected, but apparently it really isnt.
So scanning one document knocks this printer off the wireless network, and I have to redo the wireless setup after each scan???
I should have gotten a Canon or Epson, apparently. This is going back. At least I know going forward.

unbelievable my printer HP Officejet pro 8615 is working for a couple of hours after using the print-docter, etc..
then it falls a sleep and then from then off it is alwasy offline , when you need it .
My office jet 8615 printer is connected via ethernet cable to the network, but it goes always offline and you always have to go to the printer touch-panel, to make it awake , etc.. of again starting print doctor..
oh what a pain ..
is there really no way to make this printer ALWAYS available on the network ...always awake ..
I have installed the hp software and drivers, firmware, etec.. already 100 times, and still it falls "offline" after some time.
A printer is supposed to be available the whole day , when you need it ..
I had to give my score on this printer, it is a good printer , but from access and network perspecitive it is "Zero"!
Is there really nobody in HP that knows a solution for this printer, to have this printer avaialble from anywher in the network, now, later and after a couple of hours and even the next days, whitout the need of printdoctors, etc.. . and do not tell me that we have to install a printer server, I am not planning to do that !
sorry what an amount of trouble with this access from the pc's and devices on the local LAN to that printer.

Hi VDBEELEM,
I'm sorry to see your printer is dropping off the network. In related to the scanning issue, the steps in the scann connection error document should help. Please let me now. Thanks! 🙂

Same issue as everyone else. Printer wont print. Says it's "offline". Tried all the suggestions on other messages. Has anyone ever got a good response from HP to fix this problem. Ready to return and change brands!
