HP OfficeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am seeing that this is a reoccring issue with this particular printer, and possibly other HP Printers, but my issue is that my colors are printing far too dark.

I have an image with the color teal within it, and it is coming out in the printer almost as dark as a royal blue! I have adjusted the colors in three different photo programs, including HP Photo Creations, swapped out the cartridges, updated the firm ware...still the same issue! I bought this printer to do photo printing for my small home business, but this is not working out at all. Please, give me some advice before I sell the printer to somebody else who doesn't care?

Hi @Devona

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that the colors are coming out too dark when printing from your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710

I'd like to help.

Please try these steps.

  1. In the software application you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print.

    The Print window opens.

  2. Open the Properties dialog box.

Depending on the software application, the button might be Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.

  3. If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality. These options typically include Best, Normal, and Draft modes.

If the issue persists, print a Diagnostic Page and check the Print Quality.

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon .

  3. Swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.

A Print Quality Diagnostic Page prints.

I would also suggest to clean the Printhead if you are not satisfied with the Print Quality.

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon .

  2. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.

  3. Touch Clean Printhead, and then touch Continue.

    A test page prints.

  4. Examine the test page.

    • If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. Repeat these steps for the third cleaning stage, if necessary.

    •    NOTE:If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform all three levels of cleaning again.

    • If the print quality is acceptable, touch Done.

Keep me posted how it goes.

Thank you. 🙂

Thank you very much for writing back to me. I have previously attempted this to only discover that the option to choose 'Best, Normal or Draft' is unavailable to me. I have done the test prints, head cleaning and all that you had suggested, with no visual change. I have also attempted printing in multiple programs, using the same image, including Microsoft word (just for a tester), all with the same result, leading me to think that there is a fault within the printer itself.

Hi @Devona

Since the issue persists after all the troubleshooting steps, I would request you to contact our Phone Support for Service Options or Printer Upgrade.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.

Thank you. 🙂
