I am trying to print in color and everything that I do is not helping. I do not think my computer is on grayscale, but it may be because I may not be looking in the right place. I need help!!! I did not spend a bunch of money to have this printer only print in black and white.

Greetings @ashjackson,
Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are unable to print in color from your computer running on MAC OS X 10.12.
Don't worry, I will be glad to help.
Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.
Are you able to make a copy in color? ( This would let us know if the color printing is working fine on the printer.)
Have you tried to print from any other applications?
Recommend you to refer to this HP Article, this article is for assistance in printing on black only. But you can use the same procedure to change it to color.
Also, refer to the below articles for assistance in understanding the print settings in MAC.
HP Printers - Printing Documents (Mac)
HP Printers - Print Driver Settings Guide (Mac)
HP Printers - Printing Photos (Mac)
Let me know if this helped.

Yes I can make a copy in color and I can hook up my USB drive to the computer and it will print in color from that as well. It will not print anything in color from my computer and nothing that you sent me a link to helped.

Thanks for the reply and trying the suggested steps.
Please uninstall the printer software from your computer using the method suggested in this HP Article below.
(Have the printer disconnected from the computer during uninstallation.)
HP Printers - Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac)
Once you have uninstalled the printer software, reset the printing system.
HP Printers - Resetting the Printing System (Mac)
Restart your computer.
Download the printer software from www.hp.com/drivers
Install the printer using the downloaded driver, connect/power on the printer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
Keep me posted.
