Any progress?

This is still as valid as two years ago:

  • SMB v2 has been around since 2006.
  • SMB v1 has been actively ended / disabled by Microsoft since 2017 updates.
  • Companies are discarding perfectly good Officejet printers only because HP does not implement SMB v2.

Today the Officejet Pro 9015 (or 9010, 9014, ..); which were on the European market since May 2019 is not listed at all in this KB document on SMB support that was updated in June 2019

Is Hewlett Packard sleeping? HP store the Netherlands told me to order the printer and if it does not work send it back within 14 days for a refund. I think that is a waste of time and money; however to all corporate customers reading this:

that seems to be what HP wants.

Soon, very soon, I will order a Brother printer, Xerox printer or Canon printer. Looking into those now. I will make sure to share my experience on all Social Media.

THJ49953 in this thread:

"It appears that this may be a problem related to the removal of the Server Message Block version 1 protocol in recent Windows updates. Microsoft states that SMB v1 is dangerously unsecure and should no longer be used. See Microsoft KB2696547 for details."
