Hello,

Please perform the below steps that should resolve the issue ..

  • While the Printer is ON, remove the ink cartridges.
  • Press and hold the ON Button untill the printer is powered off.
  • Unplug all the cables connected to the printer.
  • Wait for 30  Seconds.
  • Plug in only the Powe cord to the printer and power it ON.
  • Printer would initialize and prompt you to install the ink cartridges.

Here's how I fixed my printer. Last Saturday night is when I noticed this problem of the "turn the power off, t". I found this forum and scoured it thoroughly. I kind of pieced some of the suggestions other have mentioned and discovered the steps below worked.  The printer has not given me any troubles since.

1. I unplugged the printer for a few minutes and plugged it in.

2. After the boot up sequence, I had about 1 minute before the printer froze up on me. During that time, I disabled the wifi then plugged the printer into my computer with a USB cable.

3. Un-installed the original printer from the computer, then re-intalled the printer as a USB printer. I don't think this is a necessary step, but I did it anyway.

4. After intall completed, and the printer worked (as a USB printer). I got into the "secret" service menu by pressing the back button four times. Thats the curved arrow button in the middle on the left of the LCD screen.

5. I advanced through this menu until using the right arrow (top button, right) unitl I found the "Resets Menu". Hit "OK", then right arrow again until "Semi-Full Reset". Hit "OK" to execute.

6. The printer did some stuff on it's own, then powered off by itself. I think it came back on by itself, or maybe I turned it on with the power button.  when it came back on it printed a printer head alignment page. I Scanned this page (as prompted on the screen), then the printer prompts you to complete the wifi install using the disc provided. If not do it anyway.

7. I installed the printer as if was brand new out of the box, following the disc software instructions. It gathered the wifi router/network information via the USB cable, so I didn't have to fat finger it in.

8. Once that completed, I followed the instructions to remove the USB cable, and the printer with wifi has been fine since.

I hope this works for others. It's caused allot of frustration for many, and HP has not been much help.

I can not do the suggested fix below as when I lift up the cover to go for the ink cartridges they are all the way to the right and unable to be accessed.  Please advise.

Hello AJ_2014,

While the printer is ON, open the cartridge access door.  The cartridges should come to the cartridge install area.

If by any chance the carriage does not move, than you may manually pull it to the cartridges access area.

No that does not work as you cannot manually pull the ink cartridges as they won't pull and I don't want to break the whole thing.

Please assist me as I can't get rid of this error message "Turn Power Off, t" and I can't power the machine down without unplugging it; and if I do unplug it and plug it back in I have about 25 seconds that it looks normal before the error message returns.

I've only had this printer for a few months but I called HP support and just paid $24.99 since I'm out of warranty to be told that she wouldn't be able to assist me.

I use this printer/scanner for work as I work from home and I cannot have this down.

Hello,

Lets try the below step.

> Open the cartridge access door, and then unplug the power cord from back of the printer.

> Hold the cartrdige holder ( carriage ) with one hand, and then while holding it, plug in the power cord to the back of the printer.

> The carriage may exert pressure , and we need to hold it so that it does not move.

> Keep on holding the carriage untill the printer is idle ( carriage stops pushing ).

> When the printer is silent , then you may release the hand,

> Now try moving the carriage towards the Left ( while the printer is still ON )

Hello.

1 . See the printer MODEL in which the person is willing to help.

2 . Middle properly the functions of the desired printer, as useless answers do not help at all .

3rd . Stop COPY and PASTE solutions from other models because only disturbs the User or client.

Because of useless answers so customers end up switching to other brands, learn really help people and do not give wrong answers which you do not know and apply the model request.

Thank you!

You're welcome!

TRY THIS :

- Power off your printer from power socket and turn it back on.

-When the HP sign comes up on the printers display screen and shows that the printer is initializing, quickly open the ink bay of the printer and leave it open for the rest of the initialization. DO NOT TOUCH THE INK as it moves on its rails (if it is moving)

-Allow it to go through all calibrations until it stops . Close the ink bay and  your printer should return to normal.

-Serach fo am make firmware updates as required
