HP Officejet 6500A
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 on my HP Pavilion and now my HP Officejet 6500A printer won't work.  Do you have any updates to solve this issue?

Thanks.

Just fixed it! Make sure Windows 10 installed all the necessary updates through:
Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update
Then restart the computer & print

If that fails, you can go as far as downgrading back to Windows 7 or just wait a while. No major update like that works perfectly so you can expect a line of bug fixes after this.

If you want to downgrade (not recommended) , make sure you back up your data then go to:
Start > Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Go back to Windows 7

This worked for me.  I had the same problem when I downloaded Windows 10, but now my HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus is working fine.  🙂

Cudos to HP Tech support (Jacob!).

He expertly figured out why m 8610 wasnt working with windows 10 and got it working.

To his credit, he also spent several hours ensuring all other functions (scanning) of that printer worked as advertised.

I was very impressed with his focus and knowledge of Window 10.

Thanks much.

Please remind this article in Microsoft community answers.microsoft.com at 11. August 2015:

- Microsoft community article here

...since the 2 printer updates that Windows Update forced on my computer, the HP Software suite for that printer (including faxing from my computer) stopped working:

• HP - Printers - HP Of0ficejet 6500 E709a Series.

 • HP driver update for HP Officejet 6500 E709a Series

By the way, I tried downloading from HP and installing the latest version of the HP print software for this printer, The installation program crashes and is apparently really for Windows 8.

All worked before the 2 Windows Updates. I have verified that backing them out via Windows Restore recovers full function until the updates are pushed again by Windows Update...

After selecting the series class driver, printer started working again:

Via printer properties, choose printer (not fax/scan), select HP Office 6500 ...Series Class driver

Installed printer driver for my P1006 and it worked fine . . . once.

Installed printer driver again, checked for updates and it worked fine . . . once

Oh and the feedback page has no submit.

I'm looking for a Canon, their consumer service is tops

Can you explain in detail what you did?
I cannot find this "sereis class driver" option.

I had a similar problem with my P1006.

The driver would work once then zip.

Solved the problem by purchasing a Xerox printer that Costco has on sale.
