Seems to be a common issue with these printers - I too have the error message "the printhead seems to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed" - I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions with zero results.
I have never had any issues with HP in the past and since 1999 have only purchased HP products - when things have had to be repaired under warranty these have always been done in a really quick manner - HOWEVER................
This time is a totally different story - please has anyone found a solution yet or is this still just a case of replacing the printer - can someone help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back to the forums @debz143 , I hope you're well 🙂
I read your post about the "Missing or Failed Printhead" error you're receiving on your Officejet 6700. If you have tried all of the troubleshooting, including a power reset (below), give us a call directly to see what your printer replacement or trade in options are with HP.

I tried calling the number given for HP support and they refer me to the website for support. I got no help there. Looks like from what others day on the forum, I am out of luck regarding my HP officejet 6700 when I get the message about my print head being missing.
Looks like HP is out of luck regarding my future business....and all the forums I will be posting this message to...Amazon, etc. and etc.

I have the same issue. Purchased my 6700 Premium August 2014 - it's only 15 months old! Hopefully, my next printer will last longer than a year!
I ended up buying another printer. Officejet 4655. It too has problems. Installed a new cartridge, now I get popup "genuine hp ..blah, blah, blah" EVERY time I send page to printer. UGH.

All of a sudden out of the blue, in the middle of printing i get the same error everone else is getting: Printhead appears to be missing. ERRRRRR!
One thing i find odd... If i turn off, and or take cartridges out and put back in I can print a test page just fine. As soon as that is done i get the "Printhead appears to be missing".
I have tried the trouble shooting that is offered here on HP site with NO luck. Spend all this money on a printer and after a year or two is starts to fail. Seems like many others are having very similar issues with HP printers. It feels like a defect is the issues and HP should offer a recall and fix all these printers.
