HP Officejet Pro 8610
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Out of the blue, when I try to print a document on my HP Officejet Pro 8610, it will only give me the option to scan.  I removed the printer and drivers and reloaded them.  I can see it in Device & Printers, but when I right click it, it only gives the option to scan.  The printer is wireless and it shows it's connected and ready.  Can anyone help me figure this out?  It just happened a couple of days ago.  I'm unable to print at all.

Thanks for your help.

Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue.  Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Bob, thanks for the suggestion.  Unfortunately the file won't run.  I'm on Windows 10.

Would you have any other suggestions?

Did you download the HP Print and Scan Doctor (HPPSdr.exe file) and save it to your computer? Was there any error message when you try to run the program?  I just downloaded and ran this from my Windows 10 computer without any issues.  It does ask for the UAC (OK to run this program?) and after saying OK it takes some time to extract and run the program.

No, I got an error message when I tried to download the file.  I'll try to disable Norton to see if that will work.  I didn't get the window that asks if I allow the file to run.

Did temporarily disabling Norton allow the file to properly download? If not what is the error message you are seeing?

Yes, that worked.  When I ran the Print & Scan Dr. 5.0, it said the full software was not installed so I installed that.  Then it said to Install a new Printer, which I did.  It gave four options, one being installed wirelessly.  However, it wouldn't install and I got an error message saying Unsuccessful NW Installation, even though the printer shows it's connected wirelessly.

I'm so frustrated at this point, I'm about to go out and purchase  a USB cable and just hook it up directly.  By any chance do you have any other suggestions?

By the way, I really appreciate your trying to help me.

Hi Bob.  I purchased a USB cord and hooked it up to my PC and now the printer works.  I really appreciate your taking the time to try to help me.

Have a great day.
