HP Officejet 8702
Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)

I bought a new HP Officejet 8702 and am unable to load it and connect it to my home Dell Inspiron. The Dell is a Vista 64 bit and I get the message ... The operating system is not supported... Is there any way to use this printer with this computer? It connects well wirelessly with my work Mac. I had it installed, but think I pulled down the HP PhotoSmart 8700 to make that happen and that probably wouldn't allow for wireless. Then the problem was that once I connected the printer to the Dell with the ethernet cable I lose wireless functioning...

Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated...

Randy

Hi @Randyims,

As I understand you are having issues installing the drivers for your HP OfficeJet 8702 printer. I'll be really glad to help you with this,

I did a bit of research and found that there are no drivers available for Windows Vista 64bit. However, you can use this link: Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver - Click here

Now we need to reinstall the printer. Try the steps blow:

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click on this link
  • Connect the USB cable only when prompted.

Let me know if that helps or if you need further assistance.

Cheers!
