My new Windows 7 computer recognizes the HP Officejet H470 as a storage device but not as a printer. I can't get the printer driver to install. I believe this has something to do with USB 3.0. My computer already has the most current driver for the USB 3.0 hub from Intel and so the solution I found on HP website is not working.
What to do now?

After working with this for a good while, I finally found a solution. In my devices and printers folder I clicked on the storage device recognized for the H470. I found there other devices which did not have drivers installed. I let Windows search for drivers to install and it found one for printer support.
That worked and I was able to proceed with installing the printer.
Thanks for looking into this for me. I appreciate your efforts.

Hello, @Chipwarren – Hope you are well 🙂
Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others.
I see that you are having issues while connecting your printer to the new computer. Going through the post, it looks like you are trying to connect the printer to a USB 3.0 port. USB 3.0 is a newer, faster USB port and sometimes might cause issues while you connect an older USB device to this port. Please check http://hp.care/2htdpiA to understand how to find out if you have a USB 2.0 or 3.0.
Ideally, you should be having a regular USB (USB 2.0) port as well on your computer. So try connecting the printer to different USB port to try and fix the issue. If the issue still persists, check https://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01272430.pdf
Let me know if the issue is fixed. If not, please capture the error message that you get while installing the printer and reply with the same.
Good luck!
Cheers 🙂
