HP Officejet Pro 6830 Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper

My printer doesn't always pick up paper from the paper tray.  I usually have to slide the top paper in until it is grabbed (I am using HP paper and the tray has at least 25 sheets in it).  The paper tray on top doesn't pick up the paper at all.

• When was the last time the printer was working fine?
• Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
• Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?
