Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I just purchased this HP Office Jet 6968 printer.  The highest resolution you can choose is 300 dpi, but the specs say 1200 dpi is the highest resolution of the scanner.  I typically scan at 600 dpi and can't figure out how to increase the resolution above 300 dpi.  Please help, thanks.

Hi wsisco

Are you using HP software to do scanning? If you using are using windows, you can refer below to change your scan setting:

Refer to section: Change scan settings (Windows) Page 38 and 39 on user manual (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05135226)

In the printer software, click Scan a Document or Photo .

Click the More link in the top right corner of the HP Scan dialog. The detailed settings pane appears on the right. The left column summarizes the current settings for each section. The right column allows you to change the settings in the highlighted section.

Hi,

I have attached a weblink whereby you can change the scanner resolution setting basing on the OS you are using:

Hope this help you.

I tried the suggestion.  I need to be able to scan black and white docs at higher than 300 dpi from the auto feed.  The resolution only increases to above 300 for a photo from the flatbed.  Is this the only option with this unit?

If so, I will return it and see if anther option is available.  Only problem is how will I know before selecting another unit?

Hi wsisco,

For document feeder, the highest resolution is set to be 300ppi, that is why you cannot change it in the setting.

To do 600 or even 1200ppi scan, you need to do it on flatbed.

Hope this helps.
