I have been printing quite a lot of pictures lately, and suddenly I noticed that tones of aqua and teal are not coming out correctly. Every other color - orange, red, violet, yellow, black, purple, prints accurately. When I do a print head cleaning, the test page shows all the colors correctly.  Yet in photos, the aqua blues are just not right. There is too much blue and not enough green, suggesting yellow ink might be the problem, yet green prints out fine, and orange output is perfect. A problem with yellow ink would affect both those colors, too.

I even printed the test pattern as shown on an online troubleshooting page, and it came out very well.

So why the heck would the aqua portion of my kingfisher picture print out blue instead of aqua? Why does a bird that is entirely aqua come out blue?

I just put in a new cyan cartridge half an hour ago, and replaced the yellow cartridge a couple of weeks ago. I just can't figure this out. If the problem was with my monitor's colors, I'd have had this problem for a long time - but it's only within the last couple of months that aqua/teal and such blue-green colors do not match the monitor on output. Older pictures I printed match perfectly.

Hi @Echo2,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to your printing issue.

I understand that you are using an HP Officejet Pro 8000 Printer with a Windows 7 computer and you have noticed that tones of aqua and teal are not getting printed correctly. I would like to help with that.

If you have had the printer for a while it is possible that one or both of the printheads in the printer need to be replaced.

Here is the support document intended for use with this type of issue - Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.

Thanks. I've been through all the instructions on the page you referenced, so I guess the only option is to try new print heads. I'll come back and mark this as the accepted solution if it works.
