My HP Officejet 8500A used to connect to the home network with no trouble. A few days ago it disconnected somehow and how it wont reconnect. I have been through the Wireless setup wizard several times but no luck. Also restored to factory settings and tried again - still no luck. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums. Can you try the following:
Please Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR) tool to diagnose and fix your problem
http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-h-e016-1&h_keyword=dg-PDU
If that fails to resolve, please Uninstall and reinstall the FULL feature software
The following resource will help you :
HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL50403/mp-150580-2/hppiw.exe
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately neither step worked. The printer is not recognizable since as I mentioned: it is not connecting to the network. I'd welcome other ideas if you have them. Seems to me it may be something to do with the connection from the printer source itself? In other words, surely I need to fix something with the printer and not with my laptop software?
Thanks.

Hi,
Can you try to restore the printer Network settings and try to connect using the Wireless setup wizard again?
These relevant resources will show you how to do that.
Restore Printer Network Settings
Connecting a printer using Wireless Setup Wizard
Note that once you are able to connect successfully, you will need to install tULL feature software again.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
Could you check if there are any updates for the router that might have caused the issue with the printer?
Would it be possible to try and see if your printer can connect to a portable hotspot created by your phone or even to another router e.g. neighbor's router ? (just to rule out the router factor)
Thanks.

Ok I was able to get the printer to connect to my phone's hotspot. So i guess that means it is the router that is the problem? Every other device in my home is connecting to the router without any trouble. Would welcome your suggestions for next steps. Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback and trying out on a hotspot.
Any chance to reset the router or to check if there is any new updates that might resolve the issue?
Thanks.

I reset the router and tried the setup wizard again but no luck. The error message I get says: Unable to connect to the netowrk". It identifies the wireless network during the wizard setup process but then cannot connect. Any other ideas? Many thanks for your help.
