This happened in an instant-no warning. I have tried all known troubleshooting and have disconnected.  The cartridge is one month old - no error messages.

Hello Clistie,

I am sorry to hear that your Officejet Pro 8500A is no longer printing in black, even after you have changed the ink cartridge.

I have researched this issue for you and I have located a helpful troubleshooting document for you to follow.

I hope this resolves this issue for you!

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Mickgogs ,

I would recommend scrolling up to my last message about the black ink not printing. I have posted a troubleshooting guide to help resolve the issue. If the steps don't help, call HP directly to see what your options are.

I have exactly the same problem with the same printer.  Replaced all the ink cartridges, did all the tests, cleaned the printheads, started and restarted the printer and the computer, etc, etc. The self test said the printheads were both good.  All the colors print fine, including yellow, but no black

I spent a while on the phone today with HP tech support, and his only recommendation was to buy a new printer.  Surely by now HP has figured out what the problem is.  Please tell me.

Help!!!
