Thank you for sharing this information. after my upgrade to Win10 I created an open issue that I called "pauses" rather than "extremely slow" and went through the same debugging steps that everyone here lists.
The first two times I tried your work around using 990c driver, it didn't change anything... the third time was a charm although I clicked on "apply" in the printer properties page the last time.
Whatever it was, it is vastly improved now from an almost intolerable stutter printing.
Thank you for sharing and I gave your posting credit...
I will mark my issue "closed" after a couple more days of use.
