I have purchased two HP Officejet Pro x576dw MFP printers and I have the same issue with both... they are always showing offline.  The printers will show they are offline in devices and printers, but I can use the scanner to scan or copy just fine.  Everytime it goes "offline", I have to reboot the printer to get it to come back online.

I can even go into the device via the web based software program and print a test page, but the printer still will show offline in device and printers.  How can I print it from the web, but it show offline on my desktop.  It's the same issue on two different printers at two different locations.

I've seen a lot of smiluar post online, but not solid ansewer on how to fix the situation.

Help would be greatly aprechated!

Hi,

Try setting a manual IP on the printer and changing the port on the driver to that IP address.

To answer your questions:

You can scan to computer becuase the printer look for your computer name, not the IP.

You can print from the EWS (web based software program) becuase you are accessing the printer dirrectly, regardless any software install on the computer. You dont really need any software to access the EWS, you just need the printer IP address.

I have the same problem with my x576dw.

It worked fine for 3 months.  Now it goes offline after a period of inactivity.

I have a wired LAN and have already set to a static IP address.   It responds to pings all day long, but it still is offline to Windows 8.1.

Help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem, and what worked for me was to disable SNMP. Go to the EWS (Embedded Web Server) and disable it under Network > Advanced Settings > SNMP. I have the HP Officejet Pro X576dw printer, and I'm running Windows 8.1.

When I put the IP address into Safari, I get a blank page, so this is not helpful.

I have had this problem as well. What ususlly works for me if the problem occurs is to go to your devices and printers. Remove the printer and re install the driver. Usualy takes about 2 - 5 minutes to install again.

Readding the printer does work but not for long..kind of a short term fix. Does anyone have a for sure fix. I am on Windows 10 it was working then my husband added another laptop to the network. What could he have done to make this happen??

I have the same problem. Reinstalling the driver is short term fix, but troublesome. Hope to have a more permanent solution here. Thanks!

How does one "set a manual IP on the priner and change the port on the driver to that IP address?"

Set a static IP in the printer (click here) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual). This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers. Verify your DHCP range and change this first if needed. More Wireless Printing help is here and here   and even more here.  Windows solution 4 assigns a static IP address.
