Does anyone know if the HP Pailion 23xi display screen is compatible with Mac OSX. The picture seems to be very blurry. I can get it working perfectly on Boot Camp. I am using a Mini-display port to HDMI cable - should I try the HDMI adapter instead? Anyone else having the same issue?

Hi Jonathan_S:

Thank you for your inquiry.

Yes the monitor is compatible with Mac OS.

I understand  that the display is blurry.

I am sending you a link to a document on "Display Quality Issues" click here.

Please see the section on fuzzy text. blurry or stretched images.

I hope this helps.

Hi there,

It doesn't seem to be improving my dispalay when I boot into Mac. I'm using the thunderbolt to HDMI cable - is there any other cables/adapters I could try?

Thanks

Hi Jonathan_S

Thank you for your response.

I regret you are still have an issue.

Have you checked to see if there is any software updates?

Have you tried repairing the disk permissions.

Follow these steps to repair the permissions.
  1. Double-click the Macintosh HD icon ( ) on the desktop.
  2. Click Applications , click Utilities , and then double-click Disk Utility .
  3. On the left side of the window, select the Macintosh HD directory. The directory is indented and is usually the second entry in the list.
  4. Click Repair Disk Permissions . The process might take several minutes to complete.
  5. After the process is complete, close the Disk Utility

Hi there,

Thanks for your help.

No, I am still having issues with the display quality. I am running on Mac OS X Version 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion)

The cable I am using to connect up to HP display is:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Matters-Plated-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt/dp/B004CAJU8W

Please could you advise if I should try a different method of connection? I have repaired disk permission as suggested. I have only had this display for under two weeks!

Thanks

Hi Jonathan_S:

Thank you for your response.

Any standard HDMI cable will be fine.

I would suggest you try:

  • different cable
  • different port if available
  • try connecting to a different computer

Have you checked for any Apple updates.

select the monitor and click on the Apple  in the upper right corner and click software updates.

Please let me know the results.

Thanks for your post.

I have now completed a software update and have repaired the permissions. Neither have of these troubleshooting steps have made an enhanced the image quality. I am using the thunderbolt to HDMI (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Matters-Plated-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt/dp/B004CADY9I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF...

If I tried this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Display-Port-Mini-Adapter/dp/B00846Z9TY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=138377... - would it make a difference?

Best wishes,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan_S:

Thank you for your reply.

Yes you could try the adapter it may make a difference.

I would try a different cable ( perhaps borrow one from a friend just for troubleshooting purposes)

If you connect it to a different computer do you have the same issue? ( This would help to rule out the monitor itself.

Have you tried restoring the factory defaults on the monitor

Press Auto or Auto select

Press menu

select factory reset.

I am also including a document on" Display Quality Issues "click here.

I hpoe this helps.

Hi there,

It appears to be less blurry on Image Control and Custom Scaling. However, you loose some of the screen by doing this - which defeats the object of having a 23 inch screen. From what I can see, apple Mac Book products only have a Thunderbolt port, and don't have VGI or DVI. HP support were unable to assist me with this issue - do you think it is worth getting a DVI to thunderbolt adapter - would the picture quality be better using this method? As this costs £50.00 from Amazon and states that it will deliver a sharp quality.

Once again, thank you

Hi Jonathan_S:

Thank you for your response.

Mac has proprietor software and drivers.  I am unable to say if changing the adapter would make a difference. I would suggest either calling Apple support or posting on the apple forum  click here  for

further assistance.

Please let me know the results.
