HP Photosmart C4280 printer
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I can't get the printer to print any documents. If I open the print queue, the jobs are listed and I can delete them by hitting X.

Each of the print jobs has a message which I think is relevant: Stopped - 'Filter' failed, 1 page

any ideas as to how to deal with this?

Many thanks, GDCrand

Hello! My name is Laura. Make sure all connections are good. Make sure your printer has the latest printer driver. Go to 123.HP.com . If that doesn't fix the problem , Go to the windows logo at bottom of your screen. right click and select search. Type in services, enter. Scroll down to Print spooling and stop then start again.   There is also a HP print and Scan doctor that you can download which can automatically fix some other things that may  help in trouble shooting   problems with printers. If  that doesn't work, try shutting down your printer and pc, unplug usb from the back of pc, unplug printer from power and power box. Reboot your pc with printer not connected, then once rebooted shut down again.  Then reconnect the usb cable to the back of printer, plug all the connections and turn printer back on and turn on your pc. Hope this helps.

Sincerely, Laura
