HP Photosmart C4440 All-in-One Printer

The printer worked fine on my old computer but installing it onto my new computer (still Windows 10) is becoming a huge ordeal. Plugging in the USB, the printer is not automatically detected. I have followed all steps to "find" the printer, download the driver and install it, but it never seems to actually install.  I just get stuck on the install page, with no further prompts (a screenshot would be helpful here but I don't seem to have an option to add this, sorry).
When I "add printer/scanner" in Windows, and go through the process, I see other HP printers in the manufacturer list, but not my HP Photosmart C4400. I have refreshed the list numerous times by pressing "Windows Update" but my printer still doesn't show up. It's just a ghost.

However, The HP Scan Doctor, once installed, did find my printer, and I was also able to find it to add it to my profile to do this support question. So in some alternate universe, it does exist. But as far as it actually being installed properly on my computer, recognizable so I can actually PRINT, seems to be an incomplete process. I keep going in circles.. Is this printer just no longer supported or what's the deal? Is there just a glitch with HP's driver install page? Should I download it from somewhere else?

Hello @LeJC .
Try the following as it may work:
You can try to manually add the hp laserjet p1108 driver to test the method:
1.-Download the hp laserjet p1108 driver and unzip it to a folder.
https: //h30318.www3.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL32431/bi-80329-12/hp_LJP1100_P1560_P1600_Full_...

2.-Manually add hp laserjet p1108 driver
Control Panel-Devices and Printers-Add printer-The printer I need is not in the list-Manually-Use the following port-Select USB port-Install from disk-Look for the printer driver folder and select .inf Suffix file-open, confirm: next step until complete
Test printing with p1108, thank you.
