When I print it comes out in pink/red.
I purchased all new ink cartridges and did a master reset and I'm still getting the error that the print cartridge aligment failed.

Hello,
Please try the below mentioned step and then try alignment process.
on the printer display,
- press the SETUP ( wrench ) button, then
- press the TOOLS, then
- press the CLEAN Printhead / Cartridge.
Ensure the the ink in the cartridges should atleast be 25% full.
Note: you may have to repeat the above steps 2-3 times.
If issue still persits, it could be a faulty Black ink cartridge or the printhead. In which case you might call HP Tech Support for further assistance.
If you are in US , the toll free # is 1-800-474-6836 .
If you are not in US , then log on to www.hp.com , at bottom-left corner there is a world map icon, click on it and then select the region you belong to, which would then provide support options for you for that region.
