Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you are trying to use the HP Photosmart Essential 3V and it does not open the CD page to add pictures. You have downloaded the software but the issue persists. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • What's the operating system you use?
  • Do you receive any error message while trying to use the software?
  • Any updates or software changes that took place?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • I suggest you to uninstall the HP Photosmart Essential from your computer.
  • Then download and install the HP Photosmart Essential software via this link: http://hp.care/2eMjS8G

Hope this information helps. Please feel free to reply. Cheers! 🙂

What you had me download was Photosmart Essential........ NOT 3.5

Essential will NOT print on DVD. I tried what you wanted but ended up downloading 3.5 again however the DVD page still won't open for me to print with. I tried to use the disc that came with the printer afer uninstalling 3.5 but got this message.

Thank you for replying. 🙂

I would like to the operating system you are using. Meanwhile, I did some research and found that HP Photosmart Essentials was part of the old drivers that were available for older operating systems. For newer operating systems like Win8 or Win10, this software is not compatible.

I will wait for your reply. Cheers! 🙂

Thank you for replying.

You can directly download the drivers/software by choosing the correct operating system for the printer via this link: www.hp.com/drivers

But, could you let me know the operating system you are using?

I'll watch for your response.

@cajunlafitte

It looks like you were interacting with @MKazi, but he's out for the day

And I'll be glad to help you out.

This is the Riddle_Decipher and I'm at your service,

I reviewed your previous posts and the driver MKazi was referring to is the full feature software that you've had issues downloading using the CD, this is an innovation and an alternate way of install the essentials without the use of the CD/DVD, what you need to do is, Click here to download and install the software and drivers to resolve your concern.

Click here to view the source of the above installation file, only for your reference.

The issue with the CD could be either your CD drive or a damaged CD which could be confirmed if other CD's are working fine on the same drive.

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

Do I need to uninstall Essentials and Essentials 3.5 and try that download?? Or just try to install that download over what is already installed?? I contacted HP last night and they say they can fix it BUT it will be $49.99 now and $14.99 a month for a year... $70.00 penalty if I cancel before the year is up.... I am at the point to try them and see if they can do what they say.... I tried what you said but the page that is supposed to open when I put the tray down won't open and I cannot find it anywhere to open it. Problem NOT solved unfortunately ...Thank you for your reply.. I'm at a loss now.
