Can the HP Printer C4180 be set up for wireless conection?

Short answer: no. This printer is USB only.

Long answer: There are some routers that you can plug any USB printer (and many other USB devices) to make them available to any machine on the network. It wouldn't be exactly wireless since it would be plugged in to the router, but you wouldn't have to plug it in to your computer. Then there's wireless print servers taht are essentially the same concept, except you're plugging the printer USB into the print server which communicates via wireless to your router.

Thanks for info. I have just purchased an Apple I-pad. Guess I will have to ditch the C4180 and get a compatable printer.

Do you know how to set up a home network?.  When you have done that for your PC and router then look at setting options on your printer window/setup instructions.  Give your printer exactly thw same settings as your PC wioth regard to type and pass word/sn number.  It all depends how you properly set it all up.  Rolfus

Thanks,

No I do not know how to set up a network, I have an Ipad not a PC, any suggestions, apart from dumping the C4180.

Yes I too have an iPad (Mac) as well as one MS desk top & laptop. All three are connected up to my printer HP 6510 networked by Wi-Fi.  Your C4180 is not so wired for such a connection.  You are right, if you want to print  from your iPad you'll have to buy a printer with network Wi-Fi  capability..  When you buy is a good idea to ask the guys in the shop how to set up a home network .  Also you can access  the instructions from your iPad software company - just fill in the search bar with home network.  Rolfus
