How can I safely uninstall the HP Printer Staus and Alerts module if printer and software are already installed and working?

OS: Windows 7 32-bit

device: HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw

Thank you for your advice...

Did some checking and testing on this today and found that the only way you are going to be able to do what you want to do is to uninstall the software and re-install using the custom install option. Once you get to the below screen, be sure to uncheck the HP Status and Alerts box (and any other boxes for functions you don't want to install).

Is this the window that you are referring to? If so, send a print job to the printer and when the window comes up, click on settings and adjust your settings to shut the window off and only popup when you chose it to. Also, go to the second tab and change the settings there as well. You can will need to click the top box before you can uncheck all the other boxes, then make sure you uncheck the top box again.

If this is not the box you are referring to, please let me know and I will research this further for you.

I have not seen this window -I installed the printer and the software on three networked PC's today- but actually, it contains similar choices.  The HP Status and Alerts is one of the modules you may or may not select when customizing the installation.  It runs in the background and places an icon in the quick-pick taskbar at the lower right.  I remember a very similar module in the old HP 2840 all-in-one that slowed down the PC start-ups.  In this case, it slipped by me when doing the first installation and although I ticked it "disabled", I would rather prefer to un-install it.  Do you know if un-installing the software, it will allow you to choose what to remove and what to keep?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Hi!

This topic is pretty old, but my reply may help someone...

What worked for me was set Status registry key to 0 for my printer. I don't know if this key appears in every HP installation, but it's nice to give a shot.

As you can see, my printer is a HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf. I've confirmed that key in another printer model (3055, I think), so it's better to check by yourselves.

To locate the key, I've searched my entire registry for PrinterDriverData text. After changing this, the status boxes were gone. No restart was required.
