You do not have to have Bing Bar installed.  Version 2.1 does not require it.  I am also running v2.1 on another computer with IE9 and it works okay! I was using v1.1.5.2 with Bing Bar on another computer and when it updated to IE10 it quit working.

Interesting Frank1412!  I did get everything Smart Print up and running on my computer but I had to have what the webpage was calling HP Bing Bar and to test what you just said, I tried to uninstall it from my program files but it's not there. Nor is it listed as an extension or a search engine.  This must be different than the actual Bing Bar I so graciously find annoying most times.  It seems it saved it as a favorite on my favorites bar but did not show up as a sort of search engine like I was expecting.  I just deleted it from my favorites bar and HP Smart Print still works.  Apparently I do not understand the logistics of what a "Pin It extension" is but that seemed to be the key.

To reiterate, you are correct.  I do not have the "Bing Bar" but it did not work until I used the strange method of dragging the icon onto my task bar.  Now that I have removed all words that include Bing from random places on IE10, it works now so I am confused as to what part of Bing was required to make it work but I found this website to have the most information to help me get through this.

Lastly, here is a link to the other thread where I documented every thing I did, step-by-step.  Let me know if any of this does not work for you but I got it to work for me.  Let me know if you have any other problems, otherwise, Happy Smart Printing!!

Smart Print works okay on that website only!!!! Try it on another web site. It works as you describe with the banner showing as you described.  Those banners do not show on any of the other web sites I tried and no control bar is present  That is probably a clue as to what the problem is.  No, the problem is not solved!

Perhaps you have a problem with activeX on IE.  I tried it on multiple web sites including this one and the only one it did not work on for me was the site you said it did work for you.  Did you drag the Bing icon down into the task bar like the website suggested?  I will see if I can include any pictures that may be of assistance.

Here is one thing that I had to do to get it to work that may have been over-looked.

You're right,Frank.  I have been messing with this STUFF for over 2 hours now and nothing is working right for me still.  There is no download available now for a HP Bing Bar that includes the Smart Print.  There is still no "Control Panel" showing up when HP Smart Print is opened so that you can select more or less of what you want printed in the screen that Smart Print selects ready for printing.  I never have seen any popups about Active X, etc during all of this...since IE 10 was downloaded to be exact!!!!

The reason I ask about activeX is due to this message here:

However, when I selected Allow blocked content nothing seemed to happen.  I also had to right-click and select to show almost all of my toolbars like the command, menu, and favorites toolbar.  I will work on the internet options/security settings to see how to get ActiveX plug-ins to allow for the pop-up bar.  I used to know how but IE10 is different than IE9 apparently.

I am sorry you have been working on this for 2 hours now.  I made sure to document every step I took to get it to work right.  I am going to have a hard time recreating the problems you face with it working for me now.  I was told it would never work in Google Chrome and I was able to get it to work there too.  Please be patient then while I look into how to get activeX to enable.  I see it when I go to Tools>>Internet Options>>Select the Globe>>Custom Level...>> and there I have "Allow ActiveX Filtering" enabled amongst other things but the only other thing that looks relevant is "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" which is also enabled.  Again, sorry guys and bear with me while I take some time to see what else would keep you from having this program.

VisionAiry - I installed HP S. Print onto my Google Chrome browser and it works fine on it....has the "control panel buttons" showing!!!  I use IE mainly as my default browser as everything is set up & easily visible (giving QUICK access) to me ,whereas in G. Chrome I have to search around in "hidden" places to find what I need.  Why can it not be worked out to function in IE 10?  Thanks again for all your doing!

Sorry to say that nothing that has been suggested makes smart print work on IE10.  All I get is a gray window that I can sellect content with and that is it.  No controls, no printing, no nothing.  And it freezes and I can't get rid of it until I close the browser and re-open it.

Bing bar enabled-nothing and bing bar helper enabled-nothing.

enabled smart print (add-on)-nothing and uninstalled and reinstalled several times.

This thread is about IE10 why are we now discussing Chrome?
