HP Universal Printing PCL 6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Universal Printing PCL 6 driver does not allow color printing on my HP Laserjet 2605dn with Win 10 pro 64bit. No choice on "Preferences>Paper/Quality". On "Manage the Device>HP Universal PCL 6>General>Features>Color: No. How do I change to allow color on the Color Laserjet? I feel this was fine prior to Windows update to Ver 1703.

Hi,

  • Right click the start icon and select Run.
  • Type control and press OK.
  • Open Devices and Printers.
  • Right click the HP Universal Printing iocn and select Printer Properties.
  • Open the Device Settings tab.
  • Ensure the Device Type is set as Color rather than Auto Detect, confirm any changes by pressing OK.

Now close and re-open the application you are printing from and check for any difference.

Please let me know how it goes,

Shlomi

Shlomil i have a similar issue. I have the HP 6.5 UPD driver installed on our print servers. I select Device Type as color but on the general tab under Features it says Color: NO and it will not print in color.

This was not an issue when we were using the 5.4 UPD driver.

Thanks
