SYMPTOM: 02.1:10 system error
Cause
CAUSE: System error 02.1:10 indicates that a failure or issue with the carriage PCA has been detected; however, there are some troubleshooting steps to perform before replacing this part.

Follow these steps to accurately troubleshoot the issue, and replace the appropriate parts.
Answer/Solution
FIX:
1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

2. Manually unload the paper (if loaded).

3. Plug in the power cord. Turn the printer on (reboot it at least two times).

4. If no error returns, attempt to verify functionality.

5. If the error returns, continue with the remaining steps.

6. Perform the Carriage Test to troubleshoot the issue further.

In order to perform this test the user needs to enter the Diagnostic Menu by performing the following steps:
a. Unplug the power cord.

b. Press the up arrow and OK buttons simultaneously.

c. Turn the printer back On by plugging the power cord back in while having these buttons pressed.

d. Once the bar starts moving or a beep sound can be heard, the buttons can be released.

e. Once in the menu, check that no paper is loaded and that the main window is down as well as the lever. Then choose the option for CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY.It is important to note that after choosing CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY the printer is going to guide you, step by step, on how to test all the different parts of the carriage. Be careful to follow each step properly. The purpose of running this test (for this particular error code) is to see if the PCA Revision is OK. The front panel prompts us to verify it. The PCA Revision must be between 0.823 and 1.005 (Z-series) or between 0.949 and 1.161 (T-series).

f. If the results are correct, press OK to accept the results. If the results are not correct, press Back/Cancel to reject the results and fail the test.

7. Reboot the printer one more time, no matter if the test fails or passes.

8. If no error returns, attempt to verify functionality.

9. If the error returns, continue with the remaining steps.

10. Check that the Trailing Cable is not damaged.

11. Check that the Trailing Cable is properly connected between the Main PCA and the Carriage PCA.

12. If the previous steps do not clear the error, replace the Carriage Assembly and Trailing Cable (both at the same time).

NOTE: For all these models, there are separate part numbers for the Trailing Cable and the Carriage Assembly, however, there are also part numbers that include both parts. Be sure to always choose the part number that includes both parts.

13. If the replacement of the previous parts does not clear the system error code, replace the Main PCA.

NOTE: Part numbers are subject to change, be careful when choosing them. If removal and installation instructions are needed for reference during any repairs performed, see the HP Designjet T-Series or Z-Series Service Manuals.
