HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3835
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have been facing a driver installation issue with my newly bought HP all-in-one printer (HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3835). I have been trying to install the driver in my HP laptop (HP 15-R014TX). At first, I tried to use the driver installation CD given with the printer. The installation failed and generated an error code 2753. The setup then gave me a troubleshooter to troubleshoot the installation issue. As per the troubleshooter, I have downloaded the latest drivers for my printer from this link. That too didn't help the issue and after performing the remaining steps given by the troubleshooter, I finally gave up on it. Finally, I went ahead and searched online for a similar issue and found this documentation. Though this was intended for Windows Vista / XP, still went ahead with the troubleshooting steps for Windows Vista. Solution One and Two did not help and I went ahead and found that the steps written in solution Three (disable PML drivers and deleting system32 files HPZipm12.dll and HPZinw12.dll) couldn't be found in Windows 10. Also the rest of the steps didn't help much. I even tried cleaning all the HP files from my Program Files and deleting their registry keys altogether. Still no luck. From the printer end, it is working fine. I am able to copy, print and set up wireless features and pair it up with my android phone. I also tried with the setup while connecting the printer with my laptop via USB (which is against the rulebook) which didn't help with the issue as well. Feels pretty weird that two HP hardwares don't like each other! Any ideas to sort this out?

Hello, @Rahul_Samanta – Hope you are well 🙂

Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are unable to install the Deskjet printer on your PC. I would suggest you perform a clean install using the basic drivers to fix this issue. Here are the steps listed for you:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjett printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
  • Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
  • Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer”  – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
  • Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
  • Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (there is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Open run again, type “%temp%” and press enter to get the temporary files. Delete all the files here. Skip the items which cannot be deleted.
  • Now restart your computer again.
  • Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
  • Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
  • Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
  • Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.
  • Click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL61004/mp-147040-2/DJ3830_Basicx64_61.exe and install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable only when prompted.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂
