How can I override the error messages preventing me from printing using the non-HP ink cartridges I just installed?
If you are an HP staff, DO NOT give me a BS fix. I've already gone through all of the steps to re-set my HP 6978 all-in-one, installed software updates, done a hard re-set, re-installed each cartridge after powering off/on, etc. ,etc., several different ways. NOTHING WORKS. HP has wasted enough of everyone's time and money, so send only an ACTUAL FIX please.
I'm furious that despite the Class Action litigation settlement in 2018 that resulted in HP having to pay millions to consumers for blocking users from using refilled or non-HP ink, HP is still pushing software or firmware that prevents its use. I'm sure this is illegal and/or in violation of the court's orders. HP has also made it virtually impossible to talk to an actual agent.
Requesting someone from HP to send me and everyone else filing concerns on this topic an actual fix that works immediately! Send me software that overrides this BS, or a new printer, or HP ink cartridges. None of this "we can't warranty non-HP ink" BS and then sending you right back to do non-fixes that waste your time.

This is another answer that gives me the runaround. I went to the site you said, which makes me go to yet another site, which DOES NOT have the firmware I need to remove the illegal "dynamic security" feature on my printer. In fact, the only firmware it has is the one to install the illegal firmware on my printer! I'm done with digging around for the solution and wasting my time.
I want you to TELL ME in your reply to this inquiry, step by step, how to remove this firmware, and include the links to the firmware update I need to REMOVE the firmware or software FROM MY HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 model IN YOUR REPLY. HP claims to have a firmware update that removes the dynamic security feature so I want that IN YOUR REPLY. DO NOT SEND ME elsewhere, or give me links, or give me numbers to call; YOU need to figure out the answer or elevate this to your supervisor to find it or do whatever you need to so that your next reply addresses my situation. I want you to then POST IT for all the other thousands of customers who have posted on this same issue.
Finally, I want you to tell me the name of the government regulatory agencies that regulate and oversee HP on this issue, and the names of the attorneys that sued HP for use of this firmware.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, my laser printer stopped printing right in front of my eyes this morning, I saw flash on the printer screen, software update, no yes/no nothing for me to see what the update was for and then it simply updated whilst I was printing! My printer stopped and on the screen I saw ‘supply issues’ with 4 huge question marks where my toner levels are usually displayed. I went to my Mac and on the screen were about fifteen alert boxes advising me my toner cartridges (all four) were now damaged or corrupted, the same four I had been successfully printing with all morning until that firmware installed itself! and until I replace them I have NO PRINTER!
Tried ringing support...got told I needed to use WhatsApp to contact support! Finally found an online request, filled that in and finally received a phone number to call. Almost 2 hours on my mobile phone, not one fix, nothing but ridiculous links that solve nothing and took me in circles. Then I discovered the truth! That firmware illegally and without MY authority installed itself on my laser printer I own and blocked ALL four toner cartridges because they were not genuine HP. This IS illegal and now unless I pay $500 for a new set of HP toners, my expensive laser can not be used! I now am once again out of work, after being unable to do my work due to covid from March this year, thanks to the illegal and utterly underhanded HP firmware update and until I can somehow find the cost of replacing y almost full toners, I remain again out of work.
I am opening a case against HP with the Australian Consumer Protection tomorrow.

@Dimichele, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand your concern. To assist you better, what model printer are you using?
What is the exact error?
Keep me posted.

@kumar0307
You know full well you cannot give assistance on HPs illegal firmware update even if I did provide you with my printer information! My printer was bricked by HP, my complaint to the ACCC has been accepted and the successful lawsuits and class actions of 2018 against HP for the exact same issue will be raising their angry heads once again! Well done HP! I’d quit trying to make out I’m being resistant to your offer of assistance right about now Kumar0307.
To all on the HP support community, contact your country’s authority (In Australia it is the ACCC) and don’t accept that this is an equipment or consumables failure. Have an excellent festive season no matter how or where you celebrate.

@dimichelle
Hi there,
I still have not received any real help from HP on this issue. Would you mind letting everyone know where you found an online HP request, and what is the correct HP phone number to call? I live in the US and would like to pursue a formal complaint but HP has hidden from consumers all of their contact information and there is no number to talk to customer support. Thank you
