Hello,

I will need your help. I have the HP designjet 500 plus and today i bought the HP JET DIRECT 620N NETWORK CARD.I have installed inside socket, connecting the card with an ethernet cable to the pc.I went to the hp setup on the monitor, selecting yes to cfg network,ip and dhcp,i reboot the plotter and in the monitor is showing it gets the local ip 192.168.1.2 along with the rest info, which is doesnt conflict with other device in the network. The problem is that im trying to search printer through the network connections of my windows xp pro,but doesnt show it on the results.I only see an icon there which doesnt open giving me an error.I also tried to see my plotter from firefox browser with the local ip that got and opened the menu normally, showing this way that network is working.I have tried many times to reboot pc and plotter in case they are stucked but got the same issue.Maybe there is a driver for win xp to see the plotter on local network?I need to have your help as soon as possible because have alot of work to do with the plotter and this issue gets me back.

P.S I need to mention that i have currently a network with 3 pc's on the office which they connect each other without any problem.

First off there are 2 EIO slots in the rear so you messed up there. With the power off install the gl2 card in the other slot and see if you still have the problem. There may be a plate over the slot held in place with a screw at the top and one at the bottom. Just remove the 2 screws and remove the cover plate and install the card.

You need to manually load the plotter as there is no way to see it on the network. Just go to add printer, next, at the bottom use the create port and in the drop down choose standard tcp/ip and then next and on the next page enter the ip address of the plotter and then next and this is where you choose have disk and you need to point to where you have extracted the downloaded driver you get off the hp site.

Hello,

Where do you see these options you described?Im trying to add printer manually, but i dont see in the window any create port or tcp/ip selection. Its only has to choose local printer or network printer and then if i choose network printer,it gives the following options:

a)browse for a printer

b)connect to this printer with a name

c)connect to a printer on the internet or on a home

Whatever i choose, its not showing anywhere.

Click on add printer then next, uncheck if checked automatically detect and then choose next and on that page click on create new port and in the drop down choose standard tcp/ip and then next and follow the instructions on the screen.

Hello and thanks for your help.I tried to today to follow these steps. The plotter seems to be recognized by the pc after puting ip and hp driver.BUT when i try to print to the plotter a page, the plotter gives the following error in the monitor:

"61:05

error processing job

flushing rest of job"

What is that error?

HP Recommended
System Error: 61:05
Problem
Description:
Error Processing Job. This Error Code only appears in HP DesignJets
800 Series, or in the HP DesignJet 500 Series with an HP-GL/2 card
installed, when processing either a PostScript or HP-GL/2 file.
Corrective Action: Try the following:
Switch the Printer Off and wait a few minutes. Switch the Printer
On again and resend the file that you were trying to print.
If the Error Code reappears after resending the file, then try
generating the file again and try to print again.
If the file that is causing this error is PostScript, check if it is
Binary. If the file is Binary, use AppleTalk to send the file to the
Printer. If AppleTalk is not being used to send the Binary file to
the Printer, then change the PostScript settings to Binary through
the Front Panel (Set-up menu / PS settings / Encoding / Binary).
If the Error Code continues to reappear, check for a new release
of the Driver.

Make sure you are using the right driver. Also is the printer a postscript printer. Does the printer have a gl2 card installed. In the back where you placed the network card will be another card in the other slot if gl2. If your network card is the only card, then you do not have a gl2 card and you need to load the raster driver for it work.

Hi,

i dont understand this thing with postscript and how it works. As for the GL2 card,it had one installed and i removed it in order to put the network card.As i remember, only one slot is behind. If one only, how to install gl2 and network card both?Maybe this is the main problem for that error and not the hp driver?By the way,i checked for the raster driver from hp drivers and noticed that this driver is only for mac.My windows is xp 32bit.

Hi David,

Thank you very much!It worked! The whole thing was the mess with putting off the gl2 card.So now i have installed them both and work to all pcs on the network.
