Hi,
I'm searching for the driver of a HP deskjet 5940 and read on next page that the driver isn't available for download :
It says " The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product . Simply connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable, and Windows Update automatically installs the driver for your product." http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01874792
My problem is that this computer has no internet connection (yes, it still exists in 2013). There is no internet connection available in this (old) building so it won't work as Windows Update needs to connect to the internet I guess.
Does someone know where I find the driver for this or another way to install a driver on this printer without having an internet connection ??
Thanks for your advices
lebo

Hi lebo,
The drivers for your printer requires an internet connection to obtain the drivers.
You may either temporarly connect the computer to an internet connection in another place to get the drivers.
Otherwise use another computer to get the drivers, then burn those to a USB and use them on your PC.
The drivers can be obtained from Microsoft's website:
http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=Deskjet%205900
Be sure to get the right drivers for your operating system version and architecture and manually extract the drivers, you may find the steps to use the drivers in the link below:

Hi Provost,
Sorry for the late answer. I resolved the problem in the meanwhile by moving the computer to a place where I could connect to internet. Windows Update searched the correct driver and it is working fine now.
The problem was that I couldn't find the correct driver on this site of HP or Microsoft. I found several links but nowhere the driver for an HP deskjet 5940 working with Windows 7.
Is it possible that some drivers are not available for "everyone" to download and that only Windows Update can't find them ??
Thanks for your reply
